Teaching Assistant (1:1 SEN)
Grade 3, £24,027 to £24,404 (£12.45 to £12.65 pro rata)
Harlands Primary School is looking to recruit a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible in 2025. The post will be on a temporary basis as it will be related to a specific individual and will be for five full days per week.
The hours of work for all our Teaching Assistants are normally between 8.20am-3.20pm. Teaching Assistants are asked to carry out lunch duties with the children. They will be able to take a break for their own lunch, usually between 1.00-1.30pm but the timing may vary, depending upon the needs of the child and the availability of additional support.
The successful candidate will:
Be enthusiastic, caring, well-motivated and adaptable
- Be patient, sensitive, firm and tactful
- Work well as part of a friendly and successful school team
- Maintain confidentiality
- Have some knowledge and/or experience of working with primary children
- Plan differentiated learning tasks to support pupils
- Show an active appreciation of the important role break-times and lunchtimes play in a child’s social and emotional development
- Be suitably qualified with good basic mathematical skills, and able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in a variety of settings (GCSE Grade C+ or equivalent)
- An NVQ2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification is desirable, but not essential. (The roles available may provide a pathway to gaining a Teaching Assistant qualification in the future.)

NJC points 20-25, depending on experience (£31,586-£35,235 pro rata, equivalent to £16.10-£18.26 per hour))

Our core school hours are normally 8.20am-3.20pm including a 30 minute lunch break. However, for this particular role, hours are subject to negotiation at interview as flexibility over the timing of duties during term time may be desirable for both the school and the candidate.
