Harlands Primary School

Wrapround Childcare from
september 2026

We are excited to share an important update regarding our wraparound childcare provision - breakfast club, after-school club, and holiday club.

What’s changing?

From September 2026, the school will take in-house the wraparound care provision currently run by Junior Adventures Group (JAG).

Why are we making this change?

There are several reasons to make this change now.

Firstly, by running a successful, high-quality provision for around 100 children, we can reinvest directly back into the school, benefiting all our pupils and the Harlands community.

Secondly, taking over the wraparound care provision will mean we have more control and allow us to better integrate it with the school day and ethos.  This will mean:

  • Greater consistency in how we support children
  • Activities that link more closely with school life
  • A more seamless and familiar experience for pupils

We hope that better integrating wraparound care with the school day will enhance the experience for children who already attend, while encouraging others to join.  Having studied all the options carefully, we are confident that this is the best proposal for all involved.  We have spoken to several other schools who have also taken this step, and the feedback from them has been very positive.  Furthermore, the plans were extensively reviewed by the Trustees before any steps were taken, and they are enthusiastic supporters of this change.

What does this mean for now?

At present, nothing will change.  All bookings with JAG will continue as normal until the end of the summer term.

What happens next?

In June:

  • Bookings for September onwards will open in early June.
  • Existing permanent regular bookings will be protected
  • Further details on how to confirm your sessions will be shared
  • Additional (ad-hoc) sessions will also be available to book

In July/August:

  • JAG will run the holiday club as normal

In September:

  • Hot meals and the structure of the provision will remain the same
  • Session times and pricing will stay the same
  • Day-to-day arrangements for families should feel very familiar

Looking ahead

We are working hard behind the scenes to ensure a smooth transition and to build a
high-quality, engaging provision for all children.  While the early stages of this process are underway, there is a limit on the details we can share, but we will write to you again in
mid-to-late May with further details.  In the meantime, please see the Q&A at the end of this letter.

We are excited about this new chapter and the opportunities it brings for our children, families and the school community, and look forward to being able to share more of our plans with you.
